How PPE is Helping Save the Hospitality Industry

Covid-19 is mutating into new and often more contagious strains. The Delta variant, which is the most contagious strain of coronavirus yet is more contagious from person to person and travels more freely throughout the human body's cells, which means it can infect more of your bodily organs at one time. This is because the Delta variant, along with the other new strains of Covid-19, has rearranged their spike proteins' amino acid composition, enabling them to penetrate cellular walls more easily.

Scientists can not predict how long the new Delta variant will be infecting the masses, nor can they predict how many other deadly strains will mutate from the forms of Covid-19 that exist so far. This public health crisis is overwhelming Hospitals, and it is taking a toll on their staff, who are experiencing increased anxiety and stress. At the same time, they feel for their patients and are worried that they could contact the virus and endanger themselves and those they love.

Since we see these changes develop, it highlights the importance of doing our due diligence to protect ourselves--especially when it comes to one of the most people-facing industries--hospitality.

Employers Should Provide Adequate PPE to Hospitality Staff

One of the best options we have to protect hospitality staff and reduce much of their fear and anxiety over catching the Delta variant and any other new strains of Covid-19 is to provide them with PPE. This equipment will continue to help keep the staff from catching the virus. It will continually improve morale because it shows all employees that their employer cares about them and takes practical steps to ensure their safety. PPE can range depending on the needs of the business, but some common items could include masks and gloves. These small measures go a long way toward protecting people and offering the peace of mind that they deserve

Maintaining PPE Inventor

All PPE products are necessary because the virus often spreads via respiratory fluids that lead to the formation of tiny aerosol particles that remain airborne until they stick to surfaces and penetrate the mucous membranes of people infecting them. It is impossible to detect with our five senses.

In March of 2020, the Department of Homeland Security designated PPE an essential industry. Manufacturers and suppliers of PPE have been working overtime to increase their production in response to unprecedented international demand. While respirators like N95 have received the greatest attention, other protective garments like eye and face protection, gloves, and gowns are crucial to hospitality staff's safety and peace of mind. Hospitality establishments need to do their part by ordering new supplies before they run low because their staff is the essential resource. Making staff's safety and health the priority will go a long way in ensuring that people are taken care of on the job and help reduce the spread of the virus and variations.
